The clock is ticking down to Christmas and the pressure is on for the last minute shoppers. In case you’re not one of those super organised people who have already bought, wrapped, and shipped their presents weeks ago, here are some last minute gift ideas that won’t have your loved ones putting your gift into the re-gifting pile.
Kitchen herb garden kit. This one is simple and easy, and you can get the ingredients at any supermarket or hardware store. Simple get a herb plant or two with roots attached , then a cute little pot and maybe some gardening gloves or decorative name stake, and tada, a gift that is actually useful!
Yummy Christmas treat and the recipe or cookbook it came from. Maybe your favourite chef has a great recipe for a fantastic dessert. Instead of just giving the cookbook, why not give them a taste of what they could make? It has a double use, in that treats always come in handy with all the extra guests and parties that happen this time of year.
Picnic set. Give her the promise of a romantic date with an all in one picnic set. It takes the hassle out of an afternoon at the beach or park when all the plates, utensils and even wine glasses are all there ready to go.
Pamper set or voucher. Every woman loves to be pampered no matter their age. So whether its a pretty smelling candle and some fizzy bath salts, or a voucher for a pedicure or spa treatment, this is a gift that is always appreciated.
BBQ cook set or accessories. If your man is the king of the grill, then give him some tools worthy of his skills. Whether its a cool new gadget like a rotisserie, or a customisable branding iron – his mates will be impressed and he will be happy.
Collapsible esky bag with beer. When you don’t want to just give him beer (although you know that’s all he really wants), why not put it into an esky bag? They are handy to grab and less bulky than his big esky, so it will come in handy for those golf days with the boys.
Camping gear. If he’s the outdoors type then he probably already has a whole bunch of camping stuff in the garage. But something new, especially coming into camping season is always a great thing. Why not get him a hammock he can string between 2 trees and nap off those lunchtime beers?
CDs/DVDs/video games. Some men love technology, so if your loved one is that type, then his favourite season on DVD or that brand new album or video game will get a lot of use.
Golf/surfing/hiking gear. This one is basically adjustable for whatever their favourite hobby is. Listen in when he talks to his buddies about his passion and look for that thing he keeps glancing at wistfully that all the other guys have.
Something to play in the water with. Its summer and its hot out. Why not get something they can use to cool off with and run some energy out? If your lucky enough to have access to a pool or live near the beach then water toys, lilos, or body boards are the key. Otherwise there is some great backyard fun to be had with slip and slides or things that attach to your garden hose.
A pass to the zoo/amusement park/etc. This one depends on where you live. If you are lucky enough like we are to live on the Gold Coast, you have your pick of the parks, but most of the larger cities have interesting zoos and water parks that kids can have hours of fun at.
Cool project kit. Since it is summer holidays and the last thing you want to hear is “I’m bored”, why not get them an exciting project kit that will be fun and they will secretly learn something? Think cool science kits or build a birdhouse projects.
DVDs. For those rainy afternoons when you just need a break and can’t take hearing that same old Wiggles DVD again. Treat yourself and your child to some new songs you won’t be able to get out of your head.
